These tasty burgers are a good alternative to meat and they freeze well for another meal.
Ingredients
- 2-19 oz cans chickpeas, drained
- 1 cup minced onion
- 1 cup minced fresh parsley
- 1 cup finely chopped fresh spinach
- 2 carrots, grated
- 1/3 cup Garlic Chili Pepper Sauce
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds
- 1/4 cup poppy seeds
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups unseasoned dry bread crumbs, divided
- Oil for pan-frying
- 12 rolls
- Optional: Lettuce, tomatoes and onions
Directions
- In a large bowl, mash together chickpeas, onion, parsley, spinach, carrots, Garlic Chili Pepper Sauce, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sesame oil, eggs, salt and garlic. Mix in 2 cups of the bread crumbs.
- Form mixture into 12 patties (1/2 cup each) and coat patties on both sides with remaining bread crumbs.
- Cover the bottom of a large skillet with oil and heat over a medium high heat.
- Cook each patty on both sides until deep golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- Serve on rolls of choice with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and extra Garlic Chili Pepper Sauce.
