We spiced up this famous stir-fry with A Taste of Thai Garlic Chili Pepper Sauce and then grilled it for extra flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Garlic Chili Pepper Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cream sherry or Shaoxing wine
  • 1 tablespoon rough chopped garlic
  • 1 tablespoon peeled and rough chopped ginger
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
  • 1 1/2 lbs skirt steak or sirloin tenderloin strips
  • 1 bunch scallions, thicker ones if you have a choice
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Directions

  1. Add soy sauce, sugar, Garlic Chili Pepper Sauce, sherry, garlic, ginger, oyster sauce, sesame oil and pepper to a blender. Blend on high until smooth. Pour marinade over steak. Marinate one hour, turning meat to other side after 30 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, wash scallions, trim off root ends and leave whole. Pat dry and coat with a bit of oil. Set aside.
  3. When ready to grill: remove steak from marinade and pour marinade into a small sauce pan. Add sesame seeds and 1/3 cup water. Bring to a boil and turn down to a simmer. Stirring occasionally, let simmer while steak is being grilled and then resting.
  4. Meanwhile, preheat grill to medium high. When grill is hot, oil grates. Grill steak 3-4 minutes on each side (with top down) depending on thickness and desired degree of doneness. Check steak with a meat thermometer: rare 125-135°, medium rare 140°, medium 150°. Grill scallions on second turn of meat until colored with lines on all sides.
  5. Remove meat to a platter and cover with foil for 5 minutes. Slice and serve with cooked marinade on side. Garnish with grilled scallions.
